Most of the time we define friendship as a relationship in which we can talk about everything and anything.
We can vent when we are upset, pour our hearts out when we are overwhelmed or ask for advice when we feel stuck. We laugh when we are silly, and we cry when we are in pain.
But there are also situations when words are not necessary or are not enough.
When sitting quietly with a hurting friend is a genuine expression of empathy.
When we don’t need to explain ourselves and yet feel understood.
When our intuition guides us, we enjoy each other’s company, and take pleasure in being in the moment.
With or without words, friendship means that we are connected through trust, mutual respect, and compassion for one another.
Next time you meet with a dear friend, there is no need to fill the time with chatter. Give each other space for quietness. Feel comfortable in the silence and experience this aspect of true friendship.
Wishing you a wonderful week and time to enjoy comfortable silence with a close friend.
