How often do we say ‘yes’ to a request even if we don’t want to do it, just because we don’t want to disappoint others?
How often do we allow others to make a decision without being asked if we are okay with it and yet, we don’t speak up?
How often does someone push our buttons and we walk away, upset and hurting but remaining silent?
Typically, we don’t speak up because we are afraid of an uncomfortable conversation. We don’t want to appear ‘selfish’ by setting boundaries. We are concerned about upsetting someone else.
Yet, we are frustrated, unhappy, or sad.
Next time you are in this situation, be true to yourself and your own values. Dare to disagree politely and say ‘no’. If you don’t have the guts yet, say that you would like to think about that proposal or decision before committing.
You might surprise others with your response, you might disappoint them, but don’t allow others to disregard you any longer. Have the courage to love yourself and dare to set boundaries!
Wishing you a wonderful week and the courage to commit to yourself!
