Of course, we prefer to be right instead of being wrong. Of course, making errors frequently nibbles on our self-esteem.
Why are we so afraid of being wrong? Because all eyes seem to be on us, because we question our own abilities and we are concerned that others question our capabilities as well.
How can we overcome our own fears? Politely acknowledge an oversight, apologize for it and move on. After making a bad decision, listen to feedback, and then change course accordingly.
Typically, mistakes are like accidents, they happen due to misunderstandings or lack of information. Mistakes – like accidents – are not made on purpose.
We try our best at work, at home, in our relationships, but as humans, we are imperfect. Therefore, mistakes are inevitable. We need to accept our own limitations, but equally so the imperfections of others.
To err is human. When we mess up, we first need to forgive ourselves for the faux pas, and then own our error. In turn, we will earn the respect from others for the integrity we show.
Move forward with confidence and don’t be afraid to be wrong!
Wishing you confidence for the upcoming week!
