This week’s “Monday’s Mantra” comes on Tuesday, Election Day in the US with Hillary Clinton (D) and Donald Trump (R) running for president. I will spare you my political opinion but it is sad to see how divided this country is.
I came to the US with the goal to stay for two years and develop professionally. By now, almost 18 years have gone by and I successfully changed the direction of my career. This was possible because America is great. Of course, there is always room for improvement (and this is true for any country).
When we will learn tonight who our new president will be don’t complain that you will need to wait for four years until the next election to see change. Change needs to happen in our communities first, and that will help to implement changes on a national level. There are many ways to get involved in groups and organizations working for environmental protection, gender equality, rights for LGBTQ, women and minorities, social justice and understanding religious differences. Each and every single one of us has the opportunity – or rather the responsibility – to participate!
Be the change you would want to see in the world!
Wishing you a wonderful week and that your personal opinion in this election is met with respect!
