The Art of Mental Health
November 12, 2019 – January 24, 2020 (admission is free)
Opening Reception: November 14, 2019, 6-8 pm
Panel Discussion: December 6, 12 – 1pm
Location: Gallery 235 at the Rubenstein Arts Center, Duke University, 2020 Campus Drive, Durham, NC 27705 Unfortunately, mental illness is still a taboo topic despite the fact that so many people are suffering, not only the patients themselves, but also their families and close friends. My goal is to encourage a conversation through my art.
Therefore, it is a great privilege for me that my art quilt “Wall of Depression” was selected to be exhibited at the Rubenstein Arts Center at Duke University. In addition, I was invited to be a panelist for the discussion of art and mental health. You can watch my 5-minutes presentation on my YouTube channel.
In this exhibit, the organizer Dr. Melissa Miller showcases visual art work that highlights active efforts toward creating and maintaining mental health and wellness. You can read more about this exhibition at https://artscenter.duke.edu/event/the-art-of-mental-health-exhibit/.
You can also read a little bit more about this exhibition and my contribution in an article published in the November issue of Carolina Arts.
